"Leave It"
Here is "Rose" my 4 month old American Bulldog cross 'Puppy Boot Camp" student learning how to ignore another dog by me using the "Leave it" command. Remember saying "Leave it" does means that she can't still be near the other dog. What I want her to do is to act like the other dog is not there. This command is perfect when young children are around.
"Place"
( this series of 3 videos was taken over a period of one day )
Video #1
Today I am teaching "Place" when you first start teaching this command it is important to have a leash on your puppy so you can correct them right away if needed.
Video #2
About two hours have passed since I started teaching Rose the command "Place". In the first video she had a leash on now just hours later she is working off leash. Remember you need to correct any unwanted behaviour immediately.
Video #3
Later that same day I had to go to the hair salon and took "Rose" with me. This was the ultimate test of "Place". Would she be able to stay on "place" even though I was not near her and other people would be walking around?

"Stairs"
Rose's owners told me that Rose has a real problem going up and down stairs. So this video was taken to show her owners how well Rose was doing on stairs.
"Bells"
I used "Cream cheese" to help Rose learn to use the bells.
Training Tip #5 - remove toys that have pieces missing
When we first get our puppy we go out and buy them toys for them to chew on but we forget to replace those toys as our puppy grows. I have two categories for toys, supervised toys and unsupervised toys. Supervised toys are toys that are safe and that your can leave with your puppy or dog. These are toys that you leave in their crate when they are alone and you know they can't eat them or damage them. Unsupervised toys are toys that give your puppy or dog if you can watch them the entire time eg, stuffed toys ,pig ear or rawhide types. It is also important that no matter the toy it needs to be large enough that your dog can't choke on it or bite off pieces. It is important to remember that if your dog is biting off pieces of a toy or bone that that means that they are also swallowing those pieces which can quickly become a life threatening obstruction that requires immediate surgery.
